The following poem and photo were paired together by two of our contributors, Mark Lemmon of Outer Banks NC Local Artist Page on Facebook (image) and Lori Chappelle (Currituck Gal) of Insights, Images and Poetry on Facebook (poem). These two went so well together that we felt they needed to stay together.

A Morning Beach
(by: Lori Chappelle)
It is what this heart desires,
that growing wish to be……
a mighty pulling sensation,
to where the sand meets the sea.
Then peaceful walks,
on “Her” morning beach…
where life on “Her” shores,
have so much to teach.
Instilling great quality’s,
to those who’ll listen…
of slowing down life,
on the sands that glisten.
The teacher of time,
all that’s gone before…
washed clean from the tides,
breaking o’er “Her” shore.
That renewing of spirit,
long days I’d spend…
brought ’bout by the sounds,
only “She” can lend.
I’d open my soul,
to that surf and sun…
to learn the lessons,
“She” gives to each one.
The image my heart yearns,
longing just to be there…
not unlike this image captured,
breathing deep, “Her” morning air!
The following video also came from YouTube, and was such a good example of the beauty of NC mountains, we also wanted to include it. Taken by Rob McLean in August of 2010, it covers a wide variety of our beautiful spots to be seen in NC, such as the Oconoluftee River, Mount Mitchell, and more.
