Time for the bi-weekly handicap access roundup!

This week, we have split the handicap access post up into regional locations.  Our first few are for our mountain region, and where possible, we have included a link.

 

MOUNTAIN HANDICAP ACCESS:

Handicap access time!  For our mountains, and one we have not mentioned often on our FB page,  the Oconaluftee Visitor’s Center.  I was unable to locate a direct link, however, there is a facebook and a Wikepedia page with plenty of information available..  The center is 2 miles north of Cherokee.

Hickory

In Hickory, a popular stop is the Catawba Arts and Science Center, in Hickory…

They have full access for the following: Parking, Entrance, Indoors, and Restrooms.

 

Cradle of Forestry, Forest Discovery Center

For our mountains, we are covering  the Cradle of Forestry, Forest Discovery Center in Pisgah Forest.

Full handicap access for Parking, Indoors, and Restrooms!

 

Fort Dobbs State Historic Site in Statesville

Full handicap access for:  Parking, Entrance, and Indoors

Living History Weekend: 18th Century Camp Life

September 28-29

Historic Interpreters will present musket and cannon firing demonstrations as well as on-going demonstrations of 18th Century camp life.

Handicap access for our piedmont starts out with the Eno River State Park, in Durham. (and I would like to add a note here: we now have all state parks listed on our website, okay?  Just check the links tab).

Jordan Lake State Educational Forest in Apex

Jordan Lake Educational Forest..now this may seem confusing, as Jordan Lake is listed as an Apex address, but the lake is extremely large, so the physical address for the educational forest is actually Chapel Hill.

Richard Petty Museum in Randleman

For racing fans,  the Richard Petty Museum is another popular stop.

The museum in located at 142 West Academy St in Randleman, and has full handicap access for 4 of the criteria:  Parking, Entrance, Indoors, and Restrooms

 

COASTAL HANDICAP ACCESS

Edenton

For the coast, we are sharing a Chowan County attraction, in Edenton, “A Century of Chowan Through Photographs”

Listed as a permanent exhibit, at the Swain Center in Edenton,  there is full handicap access for: Parking, Entrance, Indoors, and Restrooms

Country Doctor Museum in Bailey, NC

Jennie Graham shared this particular shot of the Country Doctor Museum, a little known treasure for NC!  This particular museum is the oldest in NC dedicated to our medical rural care, has three buildings of exhibits, and offers tours.
