Roy Edlund with OBX Surf Report

Roy Edlund with the Nags Head Pier

Roy Edlund with the Nags Head Pier

Roy shared this incredible view of the Nags Head Pier a while back, and it immediately went to top shares..however, it took us a little while to contact him for permission to use in our roundup.  When asked if Roy would mind giving us a little info on himself, this is what he said:

“I’ve adopted the name OBX Beach Bum and I take pictures and video of the beach. I’ve been told I’m on the beach more than the lifeguards!”

We are so glad he allowed us to share this..

We would like to add a little something here:  This is Round Bald. Balds in North Carolina are a bit of a mystery, and we are hopeful of giving them a little more coverage in the future.  A very unusual and mystical anomaly in our state..bit of a secret treasure..Can’t you just see the fairies playing thru the fields?

William Ryan

Copperhead William Ryan

Copperhead
William Ryan

NC Culture really wishes we had been able to use this picture in our venomous snake series recently..probably one of the clearest shots of a copperhead we’ve seen in quite a while…If you are still unsure of what a copperhead looks like, then this is the picture for you!  William is new to us, and when we asked him a little about himself, he gave us the following information:  “I live in Havelock, have had a camera all my life but “discovered” photography at Craven Comm College while enrolled in a photography class as an elective”.  William does not have a photography page yet, but we will be keeping an eye out, and will let folks know when he does.

Chimney Rock: a face in the tree.

This picture below was probably the most popular photograph we posted this week.  Taken by James Ledgerwood of NC State Parks, this was spotted on one of the trails at Chimney Rock State Park.

As always, we have so much fun putting this roundup together, it is not work at all!  Our thanks to each and every one of these photographers for allowing us to include them in our weekly roundup!
